Jovian Mandagie collaborates with Johor princess Tunku Tun Aminah

Malaysian designer Jovian Mandagie has collaborated with Johor princess Tunku Tun Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Sultan Ibrahim Ismail to produce a 21-piece collection. The designs were influenced by her sense of style, personality and character. Each piece was also named after the princess's loved ones.
"It is an honour for me to finally have the chance to work closely with Her Highness Tunku Tun Aminah herself, she has a great personality and I am happy that I get to apply her character and persona throughout my designs," Jovian said.
The collection will be released this Saturday at Doubletree by Hilton Johor Bahru with prices ranging from RM459 to RM1,488. Ten per cent of the proceeds will go to Cerebral Palsy Johor Organisation which specialises in providing education and treatment for children with Cerebral Palsy.
From the looks of the campaign, which Her Highness stars in, it's hard not to fall in love with the pretty embellished baju kurungs and kebayas with delicate embroidery. The Tunku Tun Aminah x Jovian collection will later on be available for pre-order on 2 March to 13 March at zalora.com.my and J Store outlets in Shah Alam, Bangi, Bangsar and Kota Kinabalu.

KUALA LUMPUR: Look out for Miss Universe Malaysia 2015 Vanessa Tevi Kumares as she takes to the stage of the 64th Miss Universe Pageant in a bold fuchsia gown specially made to reflect her bubbly character, poise and charisma.
“The dress will highlight Vanessa as a poised, courageous and sophisticated woman,” said Jovian Mandagie, the well-known designer who presented Vanessa in two outfits he had created for the 24-year-old beauty from Seremban for the world finals next month, at his boutique in Bangsar here yesterday.
The gown is a strapless double satin dress with lines of sequins radiating from the centre and an ombre two-toned organza silk sash draped diagonally around the number.
In addition to the gown, the national costume that Vanessa would be showcasing at the glittering event was also unveiled.
The latter is a two-piece purple songket – a bustier and a sculptured skirt – embellished with golden leaves and hibiscus.
According to Jovian, the gold elements were inspired by bunga mas, the historical golden flowers presented by the sultans of the northern Malayan states to the king of Siam as a sign of friendship.
“Normally, our national costumes are inspired by warriors or strong figures in Malaysia.
“I wanted to come up with something really different,” he said.

The ensemble is topped by an imposing headpiece designed by local milliner Bremen Wong, whose creation is a modern and abstract interpretation of the majestic peacock in matching, auspicious gold.
“Both the national costume and the gown reflect Vanessa’s personality and character,” said Jovian.
Vanessa has a third gown by Jovian, but it will be kept secret until she wears it at the world finals.
This is the second time Jovian is designing the outfits of Malaysia’s Miss Universe representative, the first being for Kimberley Leggett in 2012. The gala night of the Miss Universe pageant takes place in Las Vegas on Dec 20.
