KOTA KINABALU, June 9 (Bernama) -- Sabah fashion designers should promote their talent at the Intrade 2016 Fashion and Lifestyle Exhibition in order to expand their business.

Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Lifestyle Unit Director Abu Bakar Yusof said Sabah had a diverse range of unique designs waiting to be showcased internationally.
"We realise Sabah has unique fashion designs. For example, batik has design motifs representing the indigenous races in the state," he said at a press conference to announce Intrade 2016 which would be held from Nov 2 to 5, 2016.
Intrade is an annual international exhibition organised by MATRADE since 2007 which connects trade exhibitors, buyers and visitors to the global markets.
It enhances networking, business matching, exchanges trade ideas and inspiration among the business community of different countries, especially those who are seeking to venture into the global market.
Abu Bakar said his team was now in Sabah to invite local companies to take part in the exhibition to be held at Menara Matrade in Kuala Lumpur.
"Intrade 2016 will also feature the Malaysia Fashion Week and business-matching sessions.
"There is a high demand for lifestyle products despite a slow economy.
"However, there is also a need to increase exports and venture into new and emerging markets like Africa, ASEAN, Turkey and Eastern Europe.
"Intrade 2016 targets transactions to increase between 10 and 15 per cent from last year's transaction worth RM126.52 million," he added.
