Tao Tsuchiya, Ryoma Takeuchi to Star in "Aozora Yell" Live-Action Film
It is confirmed that 20-year-old actress Tao Tsuchiya (Rurouni Kenshin, Orange) is cast as the protagonist Tsubasa Ono in the upcoming live-action film adaptation of Kazune Kawahara's shoujo manga Aozora Yell/Yell for the Blue Sky, alongside 22-year-old Ryoma Takeuchi (Kamen Rider Drive) as baseball club player Daisuke Yamada and 20-year-old Shouno Hayama (Kyo, Koi o Hajimemasu) as Tsubasa' mate at the brass band club, Aki Mizushima.The manga was serialized in Shueisha's monthly shoujo magazine Bessatsu Margaret from 2008 to 2015. The serialization was ended in the November 2015 issue published last October, and the final 19th tankobon volume will be released on January 25. The story centers on Tsubasa Ono, who joins the brass band club at Shirato high school in Hokkaido. Her dream is to cheer on the baseball team with her trumpet in the stands of the Koshien ball park someday. Her classmate Daisuke Yamada, who is a member of the baseball club, always supports her and tries to achieve the dream of Koshien with her.
Then she gradually realizes her true feelings toward him.
Takahiro Miki, who recently worked on two successful live-action film adaptations of popular shoujo manga,
Taku Tsumugi's Hot Road (August 2014) and Io Sakisaka's Ao Haru Ride (December 2014), is attached to
direct for an August 2016 release. The shooting is scheduled to begin in April and will continue till May.
